Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels is a 100% Tempranillo from the Gimblett Gravels sub-region of Hawkes Bay. Tempranillo is a red grape variety grown in many parts of Spain, best known in the making of Rioja. Hand-harvested grapes were destemmed but not crushed. Once fermentation had begun the cap was either gently punched down or pumped over daily during the ferment. After fermentation the wine was aged for 35 days with the skins. Then drained and pressed to a mixture of American and French oak barriques for 14 months.

"This is a consistently attractive Hawke’s Bay red, full of personality. The youthful 2016 vintage (4.5*) was hand-picked and matured for over a year in American and French oak barriques. Full-coloured, it has a fresh bouquet of dark berries, plums and spices. Mouthfilling, it shows very good complexity and harmony, with vibrant, well-ripened plum and spice flavours and a rich, finely textured finish. Best drinking mid-2018+."Michael Cooper
