Rockbun's 2019 Devils Staircase Pinot Noir is unoaked sourced from several Central Otago vineyards. The name 'Devil's Staircase' is, inspired by the winding road leading from Queenstown to Kingston along the shores of Lake Wakatipu.

Rockburn is named after the rugged rock-strewn, burn-scarred landscape of Central Otago, where Pinot Noir really shines. The fruit from Rockburn's carefully sited vineyards blend in harmony to yield a pure expression of Central Otago. Rockburn's winemaker and driving force, Malcolm Francis, was previously assistant winemaker at the great Felton Road winery and Oregon in the USA, where he learnt his trade.

GOLD MEDAL - New Zealand International Wine Show 201893 POINTS - Wine Orbit Reviews (Sam Kim)"The wine offers fabulous fruit purity together with elegant savoury nuances, wonderfully framed by polished tannins. Delightfully composed and immediately appealing."

The unrelenting Central Otago environment tortures the vines, whose twisted limbs produce a wine worthy of absolution; strong and sensual with lashings of dark fruit, sinfully succulent and devilishly good. The flavours are practically immoral, full of black Doris plums, blueberries and bramble fruit, leaving an insatiable desire for more.
