Palliser Estate's 2015 Pinot Gris is a lovely Alsace-style white.

Grapes for the 2015 Pinot Gris yield from Palliser's Om Santi and East Base vineyard blocks in the Martinborough winegrowing region. Grapes were picked late to give good flavours and aroma concentration, and the wine was aged for 10 months on its lees.

Palliser Estate was established in 1989 and was one of the pioneers of this now great wine region. The estate is named after Cape Palliser, the southernmost point of New Zealand’s North Island. Palliser is committed to the environment and was in fact one of the first three wineries in the world to be certified to the International Environmental Standard ISO 14001 (a framework for effective environmental management).

Tightly bound, refreshingly steely aromas of white and yellow stonefruits that unveil nuances of exotic florals and minerally lees elements. Off-dry and medium-to-full bodied; tightly concentrated flavours of stonefruits are layered with honeysuckle, floral and mineral notes. The fruit is gently sweet and has a subtle lusciousness, the palate growing in richness with the roundness enhanced by soft acidity. Flows smoothly to a rich, lingering finish.
