Astrolabe's 2017 Taihoa Sauvignon Blanc is a premium barrel-aged style of Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from vineyards in the Kekerengu Coast sub-region of Marlborough.
Fruit was picked at optimum ripeness and fermented in old barrels. The combination of wild yeast, fermentation on light grape solids and lees stirring has added wonderful texture and complexity, while delicate fruit handling has provided a racy and crisp structure. A beautifully balanced Marlborough Sauvignon.
Astrolabe Wines is a small, family-owned New Zealand winery, established in 1996 by Simon and Jane Waghorn. Winemaker Simon Waghorn is fascinated by the distinctive qualities of the Marlborough sub-regions, and his wines have a wonderful purity and intensity of fruit drawn exclusively from Marlborough sites, which are chosen to add complexity and completeness in the wines.
The estate is named after a ship that charted and explored the Marlborough Coast, back in 1827.
