Wairau River's Pinot Noir is soft and generous with delicate primary fruit characters of wild berries and subtle toasty oak.
Fruit for this Pinot Noir was sourced from Wairau River's own premium vineyards in the Marlborough region and was harvested in the cool of the morning to retain vibrancy and focus. The wine was aged in French oak barriques for 10 months, prior to blending and bottling to add complexity and texture.
Wairau River was established in 1978 by Marlborough vineyard pioneers Phil and Chris Rosé on the banks of the Wairau River. The estate now accounts for the some of the regions oldest vines, and older vines produce lower yields of more concentrated fruit compared to their younger siblings. Today, this family-owned estate comprises ten vineyards, and all five Rose children are involved, from viticulture to the Wairau River Cellar Door and Restaurant.
