Vidal's Reserve Syrah is a real mouthful - displaying great dark fruits intensity with hints of black pepper spice.
Grapes for the Reserve Syrah were sourced from Vidal's Omahu Gravels Vineyard situated in the heart of the acclaimed Gimblett Gravels region of Hawke's Bay. This vintage was aged in French oak for 20 months, where it gained great complexity and structure.
Vidal was established by a young native Spanish immigrant, Anthony Joseph Vidal, way back in 1905. Vidals pioneering spirit in producing classic, elegant wines still runs through this great Hawkes Bay estate today under the current owner Sir George Fistonich. George (who is the founder and owner of Villa Maria), bought the estate in the 1970s and recently built a new winery in the Gimblett Gravels subregion on the same site as the Te Awa winery, Esk Valley and Villa Maria itself.
