Trinity Hill's Homage is a sophisticated, refined Syrah with subtle oak and spice, and wonderfully pure berry fruit.
Homage is crafted with grapes sourced from estate-owned vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels, where deep river shingle deposited over time by the Ngaruroro River has left exposed greywacke gravel stones, which absorb and re-radiate heat - perfect conditions for growing Syrah, akin to the great Chateauneuf-du-Pape of the Rhone. The wine was aged in predominantly new French oak barriques for 15 months to add complexity and texture.
Trinity Hill produces exceptional wines from single vineyard sites in Hawkes Bay prestigious Gimblett Gravels sub-region where a world class terroirs is also the only new world wine region whose boundaries are demarcated solely by soil type. Under Chief Winemaker, Warren Gibson, Trinity Hill strictly controls yields to produce distinctive wines of elegance and power that reflect the character of each vineyard site for which Trinity Hill is renowned, and also offers an excellent value Hawkes Bay range.
"At this stage, the 2016 Homage Syrah shows a bit of stone fruit (apricot) character, alongside raspberry fruit and subtle hints of pencil shavings. This wine has become increasingly refined over the years, and the newest release is downright elegant compared to the big bruising style when the wine was first launched. It's medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a lingering finish. Homage comes from the estate's oldest Syrah plantings on the Gimblett Gravels (1995 and 1999); it aged in predominantly new French oak barriques, although a portion spent time in a 50-hectoliter oval."robertparker.com

Wonderfully sophisticated, floral and elegant, with interwoven berry purity and oak. Dark brambly, and blackberry fruit notes dominate the aromatics. Powerful and fragrant with great concentration of flavour and some spice. Finishes long.
