Saint Clair's Origin Pinot Gris Rosé is a lovely strawberries and cream style.
The Rosé is made from a blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir varieties from vineyards in the Marlborough winegrowing region. Fruit was harvested in the cool of night in order to retain freshness and capture the fruit flavours.
Saint Clair was established in 1978 by the husband and wife team of Neal and Judy Ibbotson, who were true pioneers of Marlborough, which back then was a largely untapped and undiscovered wine region. The Saint Clair name originates from the vineyard property they took over, originally planted by James Sinclair.
Saint Clair remains a family business and the Ibbotsons are aided by son Tony and daughters Sarina and Julie who take care of marketing and sales. They also employ one of New Zealands leading winemaking teams.
"Made from a blend of pinot gris and pinot noir. Appealing rosé with a sensuous silken texture and crushed raspberry and strawberry flavours. An appealing wine, with just a hint of sweetness that is perfectly balanced by fruity acidity."Bob Campbell MW
Lifted notes of sun-warmed strawberry, whipped cream and spiced pear. well-balanced in the mouth with raspberries and strawberries with cream. Finely structured with hints of poached pear and spice on the finish.
