Muirkirk vineyard is situated on Felton Road in Bannockburn on a gentle north west sloping corner. The soils are predominantly dense clay loam over gravels with seams of calcium carbonate running across the vineyard. The vineyard comprises 6ha of selected pinot noir clones, mainly Dijon with some older 6 & pommard planted in 1997 and cropped at an average of 5.5 t/ha. Elevation is around 250m and rainfall approximately 400mm per annum. Farmed, under conversion, using bio gro certified organic practices.
Winemaking
Vinified in a traditional fashion using open fermenters, hand plunging, natural yeasts and 15 months in French oak. No filtration or fining.
