Left Field's Malbec is a deep, brooding, intense red crafted from fruit sourced from two select parcels in Te Awa's Gimblett Gravels vineyards in Hawke's Bay.
This early-drinking Malbec was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels to gain complexity and structure.
Left Field is part of the Te Awa Collection, created by the experienced winemaking team of Richard Painter and Ant Mackenzie in the prestigious Hawkes Bay. Here, the winemakers literally went to the left side of the vineyard in their search for inspiration, crafting approachable, consumer-oriented, premium regional vineyards. Sophisticated wines, without being stand-offish.
4 STARS - Bob Campbell MW Wine Reviews89 POINTS - Natalie Maclean Wine Reviews"A juicy, supple, luscious New Zealand red wine made from the Malbec grape, which is usually more associated with Argentina. However, this rendition is lovely with lots of fleshy black plum flavours."
This is a Malbec which takes you on a journey down a dark alleyway, where the brooding and intense characters of blackberry and liquorice meet the heroically proportioned mass of dark chocolate, all draped in smooth fine velvet!
