Clos Henri Petit Clos 2017 is a 100% organically grown juicy, smokey style of Pinot Noir made for early enjoyment. The 2017 vintage was crafted from high-density estate vineyards in the southern foothills of the Wairua Valley area of Marlborough. 'Petit Clos' means small enclosed vineyard in French, and it is no surprise that the property is owned by the Bourgeois wine family (of Sancerre fame), who are committed to maintaining the bio-diversity of the farm. Fruit for the Pinot was hand-picked in the cool of early morning to retain fruit integrity and aged in large French oak vats for 11 months, giving the wine great balance with subtle oak, which enriches structure while retaining aromatic intensity.

Wine Enthusiast, March 2019, USA, 92 points.

“Made from biodynamically grown fruit, this cranberry-hued wine is light and silky textured, weaving savory, fine-grained tannins and focused acidity with stony minerality, juicy cran-raspberry fruit, cinnamon and stalks. Between the cracks lie violet, pepper and warm earth.”

James Suckling, Nov 2020 92 points. A very fresh, modern and spicy pinot that has abundant red and dark cherry aromas with violets. Some gently herbal notes, too. The palate has a very smooth honed blueberry and dark cherry core. Smooth tannins and a nice build into the finish.

Aromas of red berries dominated by cherry and plum notes. There is a juicy red berries mouthfeel on the palate, supported by fine and supple tannins, while retaining freshness all the way to a long finish.
