Brookfields Back Block is a benchmark North Island Syrah.
The vintage yields from the Ohiti Vineyards, surrounded by hills on a shingle free-draining terrace, facing to the north-east; ideal for growing and ripening Syrah grapes. Due to the excellent vintage in Hawkes Bay, the Syrah grapes were left on the vine late (until the 7th April), hence the ripe flavours and low acidity. The Back Block spent 8 months in oak to gain further complexity and structure.
