Babich's Cowslip Valley Riesling displays good body and complex flavours typical for Rieslings grown on superior cool sites, such as The Cowslip Valley vineyard, with free draining gravel in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough. Fermentation was halted before completion to retain a level of natural sweetness that perfectly balances the acidity.
Babich Wines is the oldest family-owned wine company in the whole of New Zealand, a history dating back to 1919 Josip Babich (who emigrated from Dalmatia; part of modern day Croatia) made his very first wine at the tender age of 20. Since then, the estate has expanded greatly, but remains under Babich ownership, with Andre Babich at the helm, son of Joe Babich who was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to the wine industry.
