Astrolabe's Province Pinot Noir is a mouthfilling, concentrated New Zealand Pinot style, from fruit sourced from the upper Brancott Valley, Kekerengu Coast, and lower Waihopai and Wairau Valleys regions of Marlborough.

The Province was aged in French oak barriques for 10 months to add complexity and structure.

Astrolabe Wines is a small, family-owned New Zealand winery, established in 1996 by Simon and Jane Waghorn. Winemaker Simon Waghorn is fascinated by the distinctive qualities of the Marlborough sub-regions, and his wines have a wonderful purity and intensity of fruit drawn exclusively from Marlborough sites, which are chosen to add complexity and completeness in the wines.

The estate is named after a ship that in 1827 charted and explored the Marlborough Coast, back in 1827.

Savoury ripe dark aromas, and red cherry brambly fruit with hints of smoky oak. Full-bodied with round mouthfilling flavours of plum, brambly fruit and dark cherry. The oak integrates nicely with the fruit and combines well with the silky, linear tannin structure.

4.5 STARS (Excellent) - Michael Cooper Buyer's Guide to NZ Wines"The classy 2015 vintage was grown at five sites, from the lower Waihopai Valley to Kekerengu, hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. Deeply coloured, it is mouthfilling and concentrated, with youthful, deep plum, cherry, spice and dried-herb flavours, finely balanced tannins, and good cellaring potential."
