Te Mata Estate Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc is a premium barrel-fermented style comprising 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 9% Semillon and 4% Sauvignon Gris within Te Mata Estate's Hawkes Bay vineyards. Fruit was hand harvested from individual plots; the separate parcels were destemmed and lightly crushed, then cooled before a brief period of skin contact. Following pressing and cold-settling, they were run to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for fermentation. The resulting wines were aged on lees with regular stirring for a further 9 months, then returned to tank for further maturation on fine lees before fining and bottling.

'A complex and composed, barrel-fermented style that has wide-ranging aromas, from dried flowers through citrus and tropical fruit to fresh almond. The palate has very elegant, long and intense style with grilled-lemon and passion-fruit flavors. Impressively long and layered palate. Drink now.' 93 Points – JamesSuckling.com December 2020.

‘Pristine and elegant, yet intensely powerful, showing green apple, fig, lime zest and subtle oatmeal characters on the nose. The palate displays excellent focus and vibrancy, wonderfully supported by fine texture and bright acidity, finishing impressively long and engaging. At its best: now to 2032.’ 95 points ★★★★★ – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2021

Refreshing, elegant and refined. Complex aromas of gooseberry, fennel, grapefruit and redcurrant. Toasted spice from French oak development integrates well with concentrated guava, mango, citrus, white flowers, and a creamy/honeyed texture gives weight, depth and real length.
