Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Marsanne Viognier 2018

51% Marsanne and 49% Viognier from the renowned Gimblett Gravels sub-region within Hawkes Bay.

Hand-harvested fruit was whole-bunch pressed and transferred to barrel. The indigenous fermentation took place in a aged French oak barrels but with no new oak component. After ageing on yeast lees in barrel including malolactic fermentation, it was blended and then bottled. Barrel fermentation and lees ageing aids in richness and complexity, however no obvious oak character is sought.

Winemaker's Comments

Marsanne and Viognier are the traditional white varieties found in the Rhône Valley of France. Distinct honeysuckle, citrus blossom and jasmine dominate the bouquet. The rich, full and slippery texture is the endearing feature of this varietal mix, and its exotic aromatics and sensual nature make it a delicious alternative to Chardonnay or Pinot Gris.
