100% Pinot Noir sourced from the Akarua Estate vineyard in Central Otago.
Fruit was cold soaked for 5 days before fermentation, punched down twice daily and given another 6 days on the skins post fermentation. The wine then spent 7 months ageing in 100% French oak barriques, 10% new, with the balance in older wood.
Winemaker's Comments
Typically Central Otago with a core of juicy red berry fruit and uninhibited by heavy oak influence. On the nose, an abundance of bright red fruits and lifted floral aromas, with a touch of dried herb giving complexity. The palate is generous with layers of sweet, ripe red berries, subtle savoury characters and a touch of spice. Soft, supple tannins flow gently, balanced by acidity, leading to a long fruit-driven finish.
