Esk Valley Pinot Noir 2018
100% Pinot Noir fruit from the upper reaches of the Awatere Valley and the Southern Hills sub-region of the Wairau in Marlborough.
Fruit was hand picked, destemmed and soaked before fermentation in open topped fermenters. Hand plunging was used to gently extract tannin and colour and when dry, the fruit was pressed and run to both tank and barrel for malolactic fermentation. Aged in French oak barriques before blending and bottling.
Winemaker's Comments
Elegant and complex style of Pinot Noir exhibiting aromatics and flavours of red fruits, plum and cherry with a subtle oak influence. Typically powerful and elegant, with an underlying acidity which makes it a fine match with food.

"The attractive 2017 vintage is a single-vineyard red, grown in the Omaka Valley and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (16 per cent new). Bright ruby, it is fragrant, mouthfilling and supple, with generous, vibrant, cherryish, plummy flavours, showing good complexity, and a well-rounded finish. Offering good value, it's a drink-now or cellaring proposition."
