100% Pinot Noir grown on elevated terrace slopes at the Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough, where an ancient dried river bed delivers perfect growing conditions.
Hand-harvested fruit, 50% whole bunch, destemmed into a combination of open top stainless steel tanks and French oak cuves. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Maturation took place in 30% new French oak barriques for 9 months, with coarse filtration before bottling.
Winemaker's Comments
Aroha is a romantic word in the Maori language meaning love. This special wine delivers a vibrant dark cherry colour and beguiling aromatics of dark rose, ripe cherry, with a hint of freshly trampled dry pine needles. It unfolds seamlessly across the palate with the dense core of ripe red fruits made to feel lithe by lovely acidity and complex fine tannins befitting of the growing maturity of Craggy Range's vines.
