100% Pinot Noir from Akitu's vineyards located 380 metres above sea level in the premium Central Otago winegrowing region.
Fruit was 27% whole bunch pressed, the balance whole berry, with maturation in 12% new French oak. As the vines enter their second decade their resilience is proven, and the character that only comes with vine age is becoming more defined.
Winemaker's Comments
Plum fruit with subtle cinnamon spice aromas, and a background nuance of liquorice and lavender florals, elegantly folding into a gentle gamey bouquet. Generous and succulent with a supple tannin texture, the palate has a silky flow with juicy acidity giving impressive length and persistence. A hint of complexity from the vineyard adds a layer of real and intriguing character to the fruit depth.
